New Dimensions in Collective Bargaining: And What's Wrong With Them, 1962 December 12

 File — Box: Mixed nav_1, Reel: NS070207_000004

Abstract

The topic of the luncheon speech is collective bargaining. The speaker, Director of the Industrial Relations Department of the Olin Mathieson Chemical Corporation Frank O'Connell, a representative of managment, makes the argument that negotiating standards dictated by the National Labor Relations Board are hindering the productivity and efficiency of corporate management, particularly in the area of automation and outsourcing, which are irreconcilable conflicts between labor and management. At the end of the recording, an unidentified voice announces that there will be a question and answer period, but at the request of Mr. O'Connell, the recorder would be turned off for this period, to facilitate free discussion. The recording ends shortly after the beginning of the first question.
