Abstract
This audio recording is of the last of a series of five luncheon sessions entitled "Roundtables for Business Executives" held by the Business Administration Center at The New School. New School Archives staff have not encountered audio reels of the first four sessions. The event remarks begin in progress at 5:20 with Julius Hirsch introducing William McChesney Martin of the Federal Reserve System Board of Governors. Martin speaks at 8:15 on the history of banking and monetary policy in the United States and the Federal Reserve, and economic trends in the early 1950s. Questions and answers begin at 1:06:10, and include the topics of economic safeguards, unemployment, and inflation.
