Scope and Contents
This series contains a wide variety of materials relating to Zambonini’s personal and professional history. Items pertaining to his work as a teacher can be found here, including his teaching portfolio and slides and photographs that accompanied lectures and presentations. Additional teaching material can be found in the New York School of Interior Design and Open Atelier of Design series. Throughout his life, Zambonini won many awards and recognitions, such as his selection as a part of the Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voices in 1982. Materials relating to these accomplishments are found here.
Architect and designer Carlo Scarpa was Zambonini’s thesis advisor and mentor. Throughout his life, Zambonini maintained an active engagement with Scarpa’s work, and is responsible for organizing the first exhibition of Scarpa’s architecture and design projects in the United States. This series contains photographs, printed material, and drawings related to his studies of Scarpa’s work from the 1960s through the 1980s. Materials relating to the OAD-sponsored Scarpa show in 1983 are, however, found in the OAD series. Finally, this series also contains a large amount of audio-visual material, including slide and photographic studies of buildings, cities, and landscapes, as well as film and audio reels.
