Materials include typewritten and handwritten manuscripts and lecture scripts in addition to numerous inserts and revisions, some of which have not been identified. Dates associated with the authoring and editing of manuscripts are often unknown and are not included in folder description unless otherwise noted.

A three-ring binder labeled, "Originals Alphabet #3" housed drafts of memoirs, essays, and ideas for essay topics arranged alphabetically. In addition to typed essays identified by handwritten tabs, the binder also contained a large amount of unorganized, inserted leaves, both typed and handwritten. Drafts of essays have been brought together when they were found out of sequence, or had been inserted under a misleading tab. The existence of binders #1 and #2 is unknown.
