Consists of a draft of the 1940 application, a published booklet about the New School for Social Research featuring the charter on the cover and a description of the Graduate Faculty, invitations to a dinner celebrating the granting of the charter, and the text of a speech by faculty member and exiled scholar, Max Ascoli, titled, "Being an American," given at the dinner.
