Biographical / Historical

Klaus Laubmayer (1951) is a German-born photographer and installation artist. He studied stage design and film, and, because photography was not a field of study offered at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, he became a photographer’s apprentice. Later Laubmayer started to create surrealist large-scale installations in volcanic landscapes. Beside contemporary fine art photography, Laubmayer has worked as a beauty and fashion photographer as well as a portrait photographer. He has exhibited in Berlin, Tokyo, and at New York City's Guggenheim Museum. His editorial work has appeared in Vogue, Allure, Newsweek, Elle and the New York Times Sunday magazine, among others.
