Scope and Contents

In the first of four segments, Benedict (Ben) Fernandez introduces Xavier Moreau, a photography agent. Moreau discusses his approach to commercial and fashion photography and the qualities of a successful photographer. He proceeds to offer professional advice on various aspects of the fashion industry. This discussion continues into the second segment. During the first part of the second segment, the recording quality is poor in places, making it impossible to understand what Moreau is saying. In the third segment, Moreau elaborates further on the key principles for success. The fourth segment ends after five minutes.

Biographical / Historical

Xavier Moreau was an agent representing fashion photographers, hairdressers, stylists, and other functionaries within the industry. His client list included Gilles Bensimon, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, and Mario Testino. In 1988, Moreau abruptly closed the offices to his New York-based eponymous agency, decamping to California and then London. In 1999, Moreau resigned from Elite Model Management after he was caught on tape making a racist remark.
