In the first of three segments, Scottish fashion and beauty photographer Albert Watson presents a slideshow and discusses technical aspects of photography, primarily speaking about a photo series he did for Vogue magazine. Watson continues his slideshow during the second segment and discusses his working process. A question and answer session begins which continues in the third segment. Watson talks about manipulation of light and the question of talent versus technical skills.

Biographical / Historical

Albert Watson was born in Scotland in 1942. Watson began his career in 1970 after moving to the United States, where he produced photographs for Max Factor, Mademoiselle, and Harper’s Bazaar. His photography has appeared on more than one hundred covers of Vogue worldwide, and he has worked on campaigns for major brands such as Chanel and Revlon. Watson’s photographs are held in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the Smithsonian, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
