Vidich completed this research study on Palau on a grant for the Pacific Science Board of the National Research Council, as part of his Harvard dissertation research. Contained herein is the manuscript of the 1949 study, photographs taken during his field work, and correspondence relating to Vidich's continued involvement with research and academic institutions in Palau throughout the 1980s and 1990s.
