My novel-in-progress is an HP Lovecraft-inspired noir set in San Francisco. The protagonists play the wrong film at their small movie theater and their lives quickly disintegrate. Both are confronted by a world where wrongdoings committed before they were born leave tangible scars, refuse to die, and can actually eat them. My goal is to unhinge the story from most of the genre tropes and to push the plot to be character driven, all to the background of colonialism in California.
