Liana Cane Labs (Guyana project), 1996, 2000

 File — Box: 3, Folder: 27-30

Scope and Contents

Materials concern a Parsons School of Design class visit to Liana Cane Labs in Guyana. Contains photographs in the form of slides and prints. See also folder and video, "Eco-Design for Children."

Includes two folders of unlabeled slides related to the Liana Cane factory. Some images depict workers in the factory working with the cane, some appear to depict students observing workers working with the cane, and some images may depict students working with the cane under the direction of factory workers. Other images depict cane furniture designed by Parsons School of Design students.

A third folder contains background information about the factory and the relationship with Parsons, and arrangements for the class trip and a visit of a representative from the Guyana factory. Other records document the Center for New Design paying for the students' tickets and expenses in Guyana, and an exhibition of student work in the Center for New Design space.
