This audio recording is of the 1974 Graduate Faculty convocation dinner in memory of Professor Emeritus of Social Philosophy Horace M. Kallen, held at the Graduate Faculty Center. Kallen was a member of the original 1919 faculty of The New School. At the start of the recording, Graduate Faculty Dean Joseph Greenbaum speaks about Professor Kallen, and introduces New School President John R. Everett, who talks about Kallen's work in philosophy at 7:06. Greenbaum introduces Alfred Marrow at 12:40, who speaks at 13:59 about his recollections of Professor Kallen. At 25:26, Greenbaum introduces Milton Konvitz, who speaks at 26:07 about Kallen's legacy. At 55:07, Greenbaum introduces Rabbi Arthur Hertzberg. At 56:18 Hertzberg makes remarks on Kallen's identity within the Jewish community. Greenbaum concludes the event at 1:17:52.
