Series 1. Personal papers, 1926-1996
Series
Scope and Contents
This series consists of documents relating to Frederick Werlé's life and career, including correspondence, photographs, résumés and promotional materials, press clippings, student and faculty lecture notes on music theory and composition, performance programs, published music scores, and collected research on composer Franz Liszt. Four personal scrapbooks contain news clippings about Werlé and programs from performances of his works from his time as a student at Cincinnati Conservatory to his later career as a composer until 1984; it is unclear who maintained these scrapbooks. Student notebooks, possibly from Werlé's graduate studies at Eastman School of Music, are also included.
