Series III covers Fanton’s career as vice president of planning at the University of Chicago from 1978 to 1982, as well as documents pertaining to his teaching of American history there. The series includes many transcripts of speeches given by Fanton to alumni groups and to committees within the University of Chicago. There are also many folders of correspondence between Fanton and various deans, and with trustees, at the university.
