Series 4. Photographs, 1920-1970

 Series

Scope and Contents

Contains prints, contact sheets, negatives and slides. Unless noted, all photographs are black and white. The Alumni Association collected these materials for use in alumni publications and arranged them topically under broad subject headings (these have been modified during processing to reduce ambiguity). The Alumni Association “inherited” many photographs used in alumni publications. All subseries are arranged alphabetically with the exception of Events, which is arranged chronologically.

Events includes a large number of photographs documenting the annual Parsons fashion show as well as Mardi Gras dances attended by students, faculty and alumni. Facilities contains numerous photographs of the Parsons Ateliers in the Place des Vosges, Paris. Of note is a folder of snapshots donated to the Alumni Association by Dr. Francis Geck, an alumnus and former Parsons faculty member. Dr. Geck took the snapshots while teaching in Europe during the years 1925-1927. The Kellen Design Archives also holds Dr. Geck's personal papers.
