Materials in this series are divided into film, television, and theatrical (primarily Broadway) productions. Within each category, materials are organized by production and arranged alphabetically by title. Materials for productions may include original and color reproductions of costume sketches, promotional stills and photographs (color and black and white), and ephemera, such as souvenir books for motion pictures and theatrical productions. For titles that encompass multiple box sizes, smaller boxes commonly contain photographs and reproductions, while larger box sizes typically contain original sketches, all of which are executed in pencil and watercolors. Some sketches are accompanied by fabric swatches.

Many of the original sketches have sustained water damage and may consequently exhibit warping or discoloration.
