Scope and Contents
These records represent public relations and course promotions activities of various divisions of The New School, largely ranging from the late 1960s to the late 1970s. Some files show evidence of a central New School office whose function may have been to track and coordinate divisional efforts. Materials include draft and final copy of press releases and articles, internal and external reports, correspondence and memoranda, and promotional print publicity. Also included are organizational records for events, including a Channel 13 (local public television station) fund raising campaign to which The New School donated free courses, and the launch of the Parsons School of Design Fashion Education Center, which opened in midtown Manhattan in 1977. A range of public relations personnel are represented, including Albert Landa, Florence Scharf, Renee Glaser, Harold A. Klein, and Bruce R. Thaler.

Historical Note
The New School Office of Public Information was the successor to the New School Publicity Office, renamed in 1957. Until at least the 1990s, New School divisions conducted independent public relations and course promotions activities, although concerted efforts at centralized oversight are in evidence from the late 1960s onward.
Arrangement
Arranged in three series. Folders in Series 1 and 3 are alphabetical, while Series 2 is in reverse chronological order.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
These files were part of a large accession of records transferred from The New School President's Office in 2015.
Separated Materials
Archivist removed issues of the Institute of Retired Professionals' journal, the IRP Review, for transfer to Special Collections.
