Historical Note
The Staff on Race affinity group began in 2012, "in response to the observation that no one was talking about race at The New School...because those conversations are difficult." The group was comprised exclusively of university staff members and hosted group conversations and workshops, film screenings, and other events. As of 2024, Staff on Race is not formally meeting, although according to Mike Harrington, one of the founders of the group, in a January 24, 2024 email to New School Archives director, Wendy Scheir, several of the original Staff on Race members, including Harrington, are staff senators in the university's Staff Senate and working through that channel to advance the work of Staff on Race.
