Mardi Gras ball photographs (photographer: Arto Szabo), probably 1959
Donated by Arto Szabo (PSD '60) to Alumni Relations and subsequently transferred to the Kellen Design Archives, 2011. The Student Council-sponsored Mardi Gras costume dance parties were discontinued by an order of the Faculty Council, May 25, 1960, because the school administration perceived that these events were "getting far out of control." They were reinstated at an unknown, later date. These photographs likely depict the 1959 Mardi Gras dance the theme of which was "Alpha" (In the Beginning). The letter "A" can be seen on a curtain on the stage.
