Henriette Granville Suhr papers
Interior designer and Parsons School of Design alumna Henriette Granville Suhr (1917-2015) specialized in merchandising and display design. This collection represents her work for such manufacturers, retailers, and designers as Baker Furniture, Bloomingdale's, and T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings.
Henry H. Arnhold memory book
A compilation of notes, correspondence, and photographs depicting philanthropist Henry Arnhold’s involvement with and contributions to The New School over the course of almost eight decades. This book was created by the New School Development Office on the occasion of Arnhold’s death in 2018.
Herbert Sondheim, Inc. fashion business scrapbooks
Herbert Sondheim (1895-1966), who lectured at Parsons School of Design in 1946, ran a dressmaking firm that produced affordable versions of Parisian high-end fashion. The collection consists of nineteen Herbert Sondheim, Inc. scrapbooks, most of which contain fashion sketches. Some books include sketches depicting work of other couture houses. Two books contain news clippings, photographs and correspondence from the mid-1940s.
Hiram Halle home movies of annual barbecue for University in Exile at Pound Ridge
The collection comprises two home movies made during the annual fall barbecue Halle held for members of the University in Exile and their families, as well as New School staff, on Halle's property in Pound Ridge, New York, in Poundridge, Westchester County.
HIV Basics 101
The New School university's Student Health Services unit published the digital guide, HIV Basics 101, to familiarize students with human immunodeficiency virus, widely referred to as HIV.
Horace M. Kallen research files
These papers contain drafts, outlines, notes, and manuscripts authored by Horace Meyer Kallen (bulk 1930s-1960s), documenting his career as a founding professor of philosophy at the New School for Social Research (1919-1974). His papers also contain writings by others and research material in the form of offprints and printed journals. Many topics center on religion and his work with Jewish organizations during the 1950s-1960s.
Hubert de Givenchy fashion sketches
The two fashion sketches, rendered in colored marker, were created by Hubert de Givenchy for Anna-Maria Kellen during the 1980s.
Ina Dell Marvin student work
The collection consists of student work and related documents kept by Ina Dell Marvin (1893-1991) while studying in the Paris Ateliers of the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (now, Parsons School of Design). Includes class reference materials, clip books, correspondence, diploma, London itinerary, lecture notes, photographs and renderings of furniture, decorative pieces, and interiors.
Independent study oral history project on New School history
This oral history project consists of six audio interviews conducted by New School for Public Engagement student Gerard O. Hemmerle as an independent study under the supervision of Professor Julia L. Foulkes during the Spring 2013 semester. Interviewees consist of long-serving university faculty and staff, primarily associated with what was known as the New School for Public Engagement. Recordings are all in English.
