Abstract

The collection contains analog sound and video recordings of thesis exhibitions, design competitions, community-based projects, and other events and programs related to the School of Constructed Environments at Parsons School of Design. The content largely documents events in the Interior Design Department, although at least one of the videos relates to Parsons School of Design as a whole.

Abstract

The record group contains compendiums with descriptions of graduate thesis projects by students of the Parsons School of Design School of Constructed Environments programs. Programs include graduate degrees in architecture (MArch), industrial design, interior design, and lighting design. Summary Raymond S. Waldron, Jr. (1913-2002) attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design) from 1938-1941. After serving in World War II, Waldron worked for Lord & Taylor. In 1965, he established his own interior decoration firm. Summary

Stanley Barrows (1914-1995) graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1940 and taught interior design there for over twenty years, becoming mentor to several generations of notable designers. The collection includes examples of student work compiled by Barrows, course outlines, class travel itineraries, photographs of Italian decorative styles, biographical material, and correspondence from Barrows related to his work as a designer and teacher.

Abstract

Sunbeam "Sunny" Randall (1898-1993) graduated from Parsons School of Design Interior Design Department in 1951 and worked as a professional decorator. The collection includes course materials, furniture and decorative style sketches, class notes, and a scrapbook documenting Randall's art tour of Europe as a Parsons student in 1950.
