Joseph J. Greenbaum papers
Joseph J. Greenbaum (1924-2011), a specialist in experimental psychology, joined the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research in 1957 and was appointed full professor in 1962. He also served as dean of the Graduate Faculty from 1966 to 1979. This collection contains documentation of Greenbaum’s courses in the Psychology Department and administrative files from his role as dean.
Judith B. Walzer papers
Judith B. Walzer served as the first provost of the New School for Social Research (now, The New School) from 1985 to 1997. The collection contains correspondence, memoranda, program proposals, university budget-related files, and documents pertaining to faculty matters during Walzer’s tenure as provost.
Lesley Cadman records
The Lesley Cadman records were created or received by Lesley Cadman during her term as vice dean of Parsons School of Design. Some records pre-date Cadman's arrival at Parsons.
Malcolm Carter University Communications records
Malcolm Carter became director of The New School's university communications in 1985. The Malcolm Carter University Communications records document the three primary areas of activity over which Carter had oversight: advertising and marketing; public relations; and publications. Materials include memoranda, letters, reports, and printed materials, encompassing the range of Carter's activities.
Mannes College of Music administrative records collection
The New School Archives staff created the Mannes College of Music administrative records collection by integrating several collections documenting the Mannes College of Music (now, Mannes School of Music). The collection includes correspondence, event flyers, photographs, legal records, meeting minutes, illustrations, administrative records and reports.
Mannes Commencement Archive
This collection is comprised of materials relating to The Mannes College of Music (as of 2024, Mannes School of Music, part of the College of Performing Arts at The New School) commencement and other ceremonies between 1961 and 2013. The collection includes programs from commencements, recognition ceremonies, and dean’s receptions, as well as speech transcripts and correspondence.
Mannes School of Music Office of the Dean records
This collection consists of documents generated and compiled by the office of the dean of the Mannes School of Music at The New School from 1989 to 2004, during the tenures of deans Charles Kaufman and Joel Lester. The documents include reports, publicity information, memoranda, and correspondence. The collection also includes letters of commendation to the Mannes College of Music written by noted musicians in 1958.
Margaret McKay Tee papers
Margaret McKay Tee (1882-1955) came to New York from Cripple Creek, Colorado in 1902 to attend Cooper Union. Frank Alvah Parsons later hired Tee as a student instructor at the New York School of Art. After returning to Colorado, Tee carried on a correspondence with Parsons. Tee's papers include letters from Parsons, photographs of Tee's paintings, and an autobiographical essay relating Tee’s upbringing and her experiences as a young art student.
Marietta Gazzaniga musical excerpts scrapbook
A scrapbook of musical excerpts kept by opera singer Marietta Gazzaniga (1824-1884), who toured the United States and Cuba in the mid-nineteenth century. The Italian soprano compiled autographs, letters, and poems from major nineteenth century Italian composers and other music personalities, notably Giuseppe Verdi, into the bound volume, which spans almost forty years.
