Scope and Contents

In the first of two segments, a male speaker, probably Benedict (Ben) Fernandez introduces Arthur d'Arazien. D'Arazien describes his career in corporate and industrial photography, after which he shows photographs from the mid-1940s through the 1980s. He shares stories of the challenges behind each picture and discusses techniques he used to achieve desired effects. The presentation finishes in the second segment, and is followed by a question and answer session.

Biographical / Historical

Arthur D’Arazien was born into an Armenian family in 1914 and emigrated from Turkey to New York City in 1922. He studied at Cooper Union and worked as an assistant to George Lucas at White Studio photographic company. D'Arazien's industrial photography is in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
