Scope and Contents Arranged by country or city of origin: France, Germany, England, Italy, Berlin, London, Brunswick, the scrapbook contains photographs of opera singers and stage actors, including Emilio Naudin, Désirée Artôt, and Mary Anne Stirling; artists such as Gustave Doré and Rosa Bonheur; novelist Henri Murger; composers such as Joseph Joachim, Adolf von Henselt, and a missing space for a picture of Richard Wagner; and members of royalty such as King Victor Emanuel II of Italy, his sons Prince Umberto (later Umberto I of Italy) and Prince Amadeo (later Amadeo I of Spain), Alexandra, Princess of Wales (later Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom) and Prince Friedrich Karl of Prussia. The photographs are affixed to paper pages, with the names handwritten beneath the images. There is a handwritten index of the photographs in the back of the book.
