Karl Fink graphic design papers
This collection documents the industrial design practice of Parsons School of Design alumnus Karl Fink (1914-1986) from the 1930s through the 1980s. Publications concerning graphic design, print advertising, packaging and displays, color, and typography comprise the bulk of the files. Fink's original designs are represented in packaging for Topps chewing gum, a magazine cover for Modern Packaging, and Volkswagen letterhead.
Katharina Denzinger papers
Katharina Denzinger (born 1930, died 2019) was a German-born American fashion illustrator and designer, fine artist, and teacher. Spanning nearly one hundred years, the Katharina Denzinger papers comprise materials from across Denzinger's personal and professional life, including family and professional modeling photographs, original illustrations and tear sheets, fine artwork, and documentation of Denzinger's teaching career at Parsons School of Design.
Katherine Bosch student work
Katherine Bosch (1896-1980) attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design) from 1917 to 1920 and received her diploma in Interior Architecture, Decoration, and Furniture Design. The collection consists of three undated watercolor renderings depicting doorways.
Kelsey Randall papers
Kelsey Randall is an American fashion designer and graduate of the Parsons School of Design, based in New York City. The collection encompasses both student work from Randall's time at Parsons and professional work, with particular emphasis on the establishment and early years of her clothing line. It includes photographs, lookbooks, sketchbooks, research for collections, and paper patterns.
Larry Freund interviews with Esther Hoffman
This collection consists of transcripts of seventeen interviews with Esther Hoffman Wexler (1918-2014), conducted by her cousin, Lawrence Freund, between 2012 and 2014. Hoffman, a Canadian-born concert pianist and a longtime piano teacher at the Mannes College of Music (which became a division of The New School in 1989), discusses her life experiences and her career as a musician and as a teacher in New York City and Toronto.
Laura Auricchio faculty and administrative files
Laura Auricchio was an art history professor at The New School, 2002-2019, who also served in several administrator roles. This born-digital collection consists of course materials and administrative records from her tenure as a faculty member and administrator, primarily in the roles of chair of humanities for the Schools of Public Engagement and dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies.
Laura Johnson collection
Laura Johnson (died 2002) was a New York City socialite and wife of Saks Fifth Avenue executive F. Raymond Johnson. The collection is primarily comprised of photographic prints and press clippings documenting her extensive wardrobe of couture clothing and active social life between the 1950s and late 1990s.
Lea Hoyt papers and design work
Lea Hoyt (1912-1998) received a degree in graphic design from the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (later, Parsons School of Design) in 1933, and went on to a six decade career as a graphic and textile designer. The collection includes biographical material, correspondence, design drawings, photographs, and examples of Hoyt's work, represented by napkins and paper plates, among other items.
Leonard Freed photographs
This collection contains 85 photographs by Leonard Freed, an American photojournalist known for his coverage of the American civil rights movement of the 1960s. The photographs include candid depictions of underrepresented American communities, the civil rights movement, and European street scenes.
Leopold Godowsky score collection
Virtuoso pianist and composer Leopold Godowsky (1870-1938) was noted for piano compositions and arrangements of exceptional difficulty, especially his 53 Studies on Chopin’s Études. The collection includes manuscripts of his works, sketches, corrected print proofs, and published scores with annotations and inscriptions by Godowsky and others related to him.
