Albert Schiller type pictures

Abstract

Typographer Albert Schiller (1898-1970) created artworks using pre-cast metal type elements. The collection is comprised of 35 type pictures and printing samples featured in a 1976 exhibition at Parsons School of Design.

André and Creators Studios fashion drawings

Summary

André and Creators Studios were Seventh Avenue fashion firms that marketed their designs to clothing manufacturers by subscription. In the mid-1970s Pearl Alexander Lipman, André's co-owner and designer since the 1930s, retired, and André's design drawings were sold to Creators Studios. The collection consists of design reproductions created and distributed by the two companies between 1937 and 1972.

Harold Matossian graphic design work for Knoll

Abstract

In 1979, Harold Matossian (Parsons School of Design, 1968) became director of the Knoll furniture company's graphics department, producing invitations, brochures, stationery, catalogs and other corporate literature for the company until 1994. The Kellen Design Archives holds finished examples of these graphics.

Institute for Retired Professionals collection

Abstract

The Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP) was founded in 1962 by a group of New York City schoolteachers who sought to continue their intellectual development after retirement. The creation of courses and their delivery is entirely member run and depends upon members’ interests. New courses are offered each term. The collection consists mainly of printed matter, such as fliers, publications and course catalogs.

New School Bulletin collection

Summary The New School's Publicity Office began issuing the New School Bulletin in 1927. The Bulletins contain announcements about lectures, exhibitions, performances and other campus events, information about selected courses, school news, and brief editorial features by New School presidents and others. Overview

Parsons School of Design was established in 1896 and became affiliated with The New School as the university's art and design college in 1970. New School Archives staff assembled this collection of audiovisual materials, exhibition catalogs, posters, publications, student work, and other formats from departmental transfers and personal donations by Parsons School of Design faculty, students and administrative staff beginning in 2009.
