Anson Seeno collection of political posters

Abstract

This collection, compiled by artist and activist Anson Seeno, consists of posters, fliers, and other graphic materials representing activist movements in Nicaragua and El Salvador, against gentrification and combatting homelessness in New York City, the politics of AIDS and U.S. governmental politics. Many of the posters date from the 1980s.

Abstract

The material in this collection was assembled by New School librarian Carmen Hendershott and transferred periodically to the New School Archives. The collection includes fliers, posters, invitations, program and admissions materials, and event programs produced by multiple university divisions including the New School for Social Research, College of Performing Arts, and Schools of Public Engagement, as well as by academic support centers and offices.

Abstract

The Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP) was founded in 1962 by a group of New York City schoolteachers who sought to continue their intellectual development after retirement. The creation of courses and their delivery is entirely member run and depends upon members’ interests. New courses are offered each term. The collection consists mainly of printed matter, such as fliers, publications and course catalogs.

"Justus Rosenberg: A Life in Translation" independent oral history project

Overview

Scott Ritner, a graduate student of The New School for Social Research, conducted this series of oral history interviews with New School faculty member Justus Rosenberg in 2012. Rosenberg (born 1921 in Danzig) took part in the French Resistance during World War II, immigrated to the United States, and taught at The New School for over fifty years. The collection consists of a transcript and an event flier as electronic files.

This record group consists of video recordings, clippings, publicity samples, advertising materials, and topical office files, which include a large number of press releases, created by George Calderaro in his capacity as director of publicity for what is, as of 2019, The New School's Schools of Public Engagement. Calderaro led the New School Communications Office (later subsumed into the Marketing and Communications unit), from 1995 to 2005.
