Scope and Contents

The collection includes fliers, posters, invitations, program and admissions materials, and event programs produced by multiple university divisions and centers. The material was assembled by New School librarian Carmen Hendershott.

Multiple folders in this collection are named after divisions of The New School as of 2019, when New School archivists began cataloging the collection. In certain cases, the different schools within a division are granted separate folders. Fliers of events that were co-organized by two divisions will be found in the folders of the first division mentioned on the fliers.

Although the College of Perfoming Arts was created in 2015, the event fliers for the School of Drama, and the college-wide events are collected in these folders. Although since 2015 they belong to the College of Perfoming Arts, event fliers of the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, and the Mannes School of Music will be found in their separate, respective folders.

The New School general folders contain all university-wide event fliers, fliers that were organized by more than two divisions of the school, fliers of events that were organized by students and student organizations not associated with either division, fliers of events that cannot be clearly associated with any division, and fliers of events organized by institutes that are not directly associated with any division, such as the India China Institute, The Humanities Action Lab, and Tishman Environment and Design Center. The event fliers of the academic student worker's union (SENS-UAW), and the part-time faculty's union (ACT-UAW) are also in these folders.

The New School for Social Research folders contain all the event fliers of the Graduate Faculty, the predecessor of the present division, and also event fliers of research institutes that belong to this division, namely the Center for Public Scholarship, the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis, the Heilbroner Center for Capitalism Studies, the Transregional Center for Democratic Studies, the Social Research journal, and the Zolberg Institute on Migration and Mobility.

The Schools of Public Engagement folders contain event fliers for the Bachelor's Program for Adults and Transfer Students, School of Media Studies, Creative Writing Program, the School of General Studies, the Julien J. Studley Graduate Programs in International Affairs, and School of Languages. It also contains the event fliers of the Wolfson Center for National Affairs, the Vera List Center for Art and Politics, the Institute of Retired Professionals, and Observatory on Latin America.

Although the Milano School of Policy, Management, and the Environment is part of the Schools of Public Engagement since 2011, it has its own folders. It also contains the event fliers for the Center for New York City Affairs, from which Milano emerged.
