American Cities: Law, Survival and the Administration of Justice symposium recordings
The New School hosted this symposium on law and urban policy, moderated by attorneys Joseph Lobenthal, Jr. and Martin Gallent, over a three month period. The collection consists of sound recordings from the symposium.
Conversations about Women event recordings
“Conversations about Women” was an ongoing lecture series held at The New School and organized by the Vera List Center for Art and Politics. Historian and New School women’s studies professor Gina Luria Walker moderated the panels and lectures. The audio recordings in this collection focus on biographical and autobiographical writing about women.
Conversations with Actors event recordings
Theater critic and biographer Martin Gottfriend organized and moderated the event series, “Conversations with Actors,” at The New School every semester from Summer 1991 through Spring 1994. Each session featured group interviews with well-known actors, especially New York City-based stage actors. The collection consists of audio recordings of the interviews.

Murder Ink at The New School event recordings
The New School in cooperation with the New York City bookstore, Murder Ink, hosted a public lecture series between 1993 and 1995 devoted to discussions and readings by popular writers of mystery and crime fiction. The collection consists of audio recordings from the series.
National Book Awards Finalist Readings event recordings
The New School hosted the National Book Awards Finalist Readings from 1998 until 2019. This collection of audiovisual recordings documents nominated finalists reading their work at the university the night before the awards ceremony.
New School Art Center audio recordings of public programs
The New School Art Center was established in 1960 with a donation from the Albert J. List Foundation, and remained in operation until 1973. Directed by Paul Mocsanyi, the Center reflected The New School's commitment to engage provocative subjects, using art to explore contemporary issues. The collection contains sound recordings of events sponsored by the Art Center, often in conjunction with an exhibition or as part of educational programming.
New School Business Administration Center event recordings
The Business Administration Center, directed by Julius Hirsch, was launched at the New School in the fall term of 1954 to "meet the practical and continuing needs of businessmen." The Labor-Management Luncheons began in the 1950s. The luncheons occurred monthly over the course of the fall and spring terms.
New School Culinary Arts program event recordings
The New School's Culinary Arts program existed from 1978 until 2008. This collection predominantly consists of audio recordings of restaurant and dining programming from the 1990s.
Parsons School of Design Henry Wolf Lecture Series recordings
This collection consists of three audio recordings of lectures held as part of the Henry Wolf Lecture Series. This series, held in the Fall of 1998 in honor of graphic designer and longtime Parsons School of Design instructor Henry Wolf, focused on all aspects of graphic design. Speakers featured in these recordings include Henry Wolf, Ivan Chermayeff, and Milton Glaser. No transcripts have been made.
