Scope and Contents

The collection consists of audio and video recordings of events associated with a two-day colloquium held at The New School's New York City campus. Lectures and panel discussions are recorded on audiocassettes, with the exception of the keynote address and the first day's panel discussions, recorded on Hi8 video tape. Concerts and performances are recorded on digital audio tape (DAT). New York City public radio station WNYC broadcast the concert from the first day of the colloquium live during the program, New Sounds. The WNYC broadcast recording is included in the collection.

While part of the Reverberations colloquium, the evening concerts, "Under the Influence: Women Artists in Tribute to John Cage" and "Ladyfingers," are listed separately in The New School's course catalog, with "Under the Influence" requiring a separate admission fee from the rest of the colloquium.

Although other universities in New York and New Jersey hosted related events, only events held at The New School's campus are included in the collection.
